Want an alternative to Raspberry Pi? How about a more powerful BeagleBone?
Raspberry
Pi may be leading the single board computers arena, but it has heavy
competition from BeagleBone. There are many add-ons, known as capes,
that can take the BeagleBone ahead of the Raspberry Pi. Here are seven
such add-ons that you can use. |
1. CircuitCo BeagleBone Memory Expansion Cape
This is an expansion cape for BeagleBone that lets you increase the onboard memory of electronic devices. It connects to BeagleBone’s GPMC and provides fo external memory devices to be connected.
2. 4D Systems’ 4DCAPE-43 TFT LCD Display
This one is designed for the BeagleBone black, which gives it the power to play games and watch media items.
3. DVI-D Cape for BeagleBone
The DVI-D cape can be used in order to attach a monitor directly to the BeagleBone BeagleBone. It comes with a standard HDMI connector.
4. TowerTech’s TT3201 CAN Cape
This add-on gives you BeagleBone three CAN Bus Channels. This is done by putting the AM335x CAN controller and two Microchips MCP2515.
5. Adafruit Ultimate GPS Breakout Cape
This is a breakout that is built around the MTK3339 chipset, which is a high-quality GPS module with the capability to track up to 22 satellites on 66 channels. It can be used for high speed and high sensitivity location tracking.
6. The BeagleBone Breakout Cape
This one provides you with access to various BeagleBone components at the time of troubleshooting.
7. Adafruit’s Proto Cape Kit
This breakout provides your BeagleBone or BeagleBone Black with 46 pin headers along with individual numbering that keeps them straight. It doesn’t intrude on the Ethernet jack either.
